Kishkinta - Amusement Park - Chennai
KISHKINTA is a Theme Park set in 120 acres of specially landscaped hills and lakes. Thirty minutes south of Chennai City, the park is situated five kilometres west of Tambaram Bus stand and Suburban train station. The design philosophy behind this green clad leisure center is simple - new and wholesome family entertainment.

KISHKINTA is the name of the legendary monkey kingdom in the Ramayana, where fun & frolic reigns. From end to end, KISHKINTA is designed as a pleasant and fun-filled environment, the perfect getaway for the harried city-dweller and tourist alike. KISHKINTA has attracted over five million visitors since its inauguration in August 1995.

The Men Behind

KISHKINTA is the creation of NAVODAYA MASS ENTERTAINMENTS LTD, a sister concern of Navodaya Films. M.C.Punnoose alias Appachan is the creator of this Dream City. His passion for innovation and excellence has been a success story. Navodaya had produced the first 3-D movie in India "My Dear Kuttichathan" (Chota Chethan) which received the President's Gold Medal (1984).

KISHKINTA is a Rs.25 crore project jointly promoted by Navodaya Films (Pvt.) Ltd., Chennai, Berjaya Leisure, Malaysia and Tamilnadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO), a Govt. of Tamilnadu undertaking.

Afforestation

A barren land of 120 acres is now a green paradise. 10,000 saplings planted in 1995 has made the difference. Kishkinta is Chennai's answer to a deteriorating environment. Nearly 2000 full grown trees were transplanted to ensure shade and a cool, green atmosphere. An achievement that stands out all by itself! The rich variety of trees and plants makes Kishkinta a botanical garden.

Water, Water Everywhere!

Water is fast becoming a rare and precious commodity in Chennai. But you will find plenty of water in Kishkinta.

In water-scarce Chennai, how does Kishkinta get so much of water? ' Rain water harvesting '. Yes, macro-level rain water harvesting is done in as many as six man-made lakes. Every drop of rain water, that would have otherwise flowed into the sea, is painstakingly harvested and used to operate all the water based rides and attractions uninterrupted throughout the year.
